Two things I hear all the time… “your pictures are amazing” and “you’re living the dream”. While I agree with both of those statements I also find them, inaccurate as well! My pictures are amazing, however the real deal in person is so much more I can’t quite figure out how to use words to say the pictures don’t come close to evoking the feeling and emotions and awe of actually being in that moment. The sounds of the running water, the smell of fresh pine forest air, the silence or the sounds of the forest, the sound the trees make when they sway in the wind, the list goes on and on.
The second part of the feedback I hear is also true, however in accurate as well. I am living. I am not existing, or making it til the weekend, or from crisis to crisis, although those do at times happen on the road just like they do if you live in a sticks and bricks home. And yes it is a dream, that God made happen and I went along with. But as in every aspect of life there are choices and consequences that go with any decision. So, it means I dump my black tank, I clean bathrooms on some of my “jobs”, I use a laundromat, I sleep in Walmart parking lots sometimes and this list could go on and on as well.
But the time is now! What do I mean? I mean go now! Make a decision and go for it! Experience something you have “thought” about for a long time….. NOW!! A few things, none of us are guaranteed tomorrow and places and things may not be here tomorrow! The flood in Yellowstone that erased roadways, wildfires that have burned Redwoods we can not replace in our lifetime are great examples of why we should go now! Not to mention two years of lockdowns and Covid and cancer and illness of many forms….. the time is NOW!
Don’t get me wrong I understand, plans take time and money and every decision can lead to a thousand others. Sacrifices need to be made but start planning today! I’m pretty sure you would never regret doing and living, but you may regret not going and doing!
The first picture I took with my iPhone while visiting the Badlands National Park on their Dark sky annual Festival….it’s dark alright!! LOL The second picture photo credit to Randy Halverson with I am sure a “real” camera, the number of stars was simply astounding! I purposely didn’t include a picture of the milky way. We were able to see the milky way but when you see pictures they tend to show it with a long exposure giving it all the colors of the galaxy vs when you view it with the naked eye you don’t see those colors just the stars in that splash form! It is amazing regardless! This night we had the privilege of seeing the international space station fly over head for 6 minutes! The park also had a few universities on hand with over 12 massive telescopes set up all trained on a different part of the sky. The most spectacular viewing for me was set on Saturn and you could see the rings!! Just unreal! I highly recommitted a documentary called Privilege Planet that discusses our solar system and our planet …. Just incredible!
As always thanks for following me on the trail and please come join me!!
